Terms for independent historical archive access

Terms covering historical read access, domain-specific credentials, successful-request charges, crypto invoices and lawful use of retrieved records.

Service scope and lawful use

Reddit Datasets provides read access to an independent historical Reddit archive, without official affiliation or live updates. Reddit OAuth, posting, voting and private messages are not provided. Coverage, immutable results, permanent availability and complete conversations are not guaranteed. Locally curated samples and provenance notes belong to your workflow; they are not certified datasets, random samples or guarantees of identical repeated retrieval. Respect applicable law and third-party rights when retaining, annotating, analyzing or redistributing material, distinguishing source fields from your own labels.

Account and key responsibility

Protect your password and API key, including the copies used by your application. Registration uses email and a password of 12–72 UTF-8 bytes, showing the key once immediately before payment. A signed-in user can regenerate it after password confirmation, immediately invalidating the previous key. No emailed-key or password-reset feature is supplied. Accounts, keys and balances apply to redditdatasets.com only. Conditional 100 trial credits depend on network-wide anti-abuse eligibility and do not establish a shared balance.

Credits and payment verification

A successful retrieval, including an empty response, costs one credit: $1 per 1000 requests. Minimum paid top-up is $50 for 50000 credits; no subscription applies and paid credits do not expire. Invalid requests do not debit, upstream failures refund reservations, and public status is uncharged. A successful repeat after client response loss costs another credit. Sign in and create an invoice before sending its exact amount using the displayed supported token and network, then submit the transaction hash. Credits require verification of a genuine confirmed matching transfer, without a settlement-time guarantee.
